About Banks Abreu Consulting
My name is Jen Banks Abreu, and through Banks Abreu Consulting I provide a range of professional fundraising, grantwriting, and marketing services tailored to suit the needs of each nonprofit client. I like to think of myself as a matchmaker of sorts, helping supporters and funders fall in love with your organization– bringing in more donations and grants as a result. As for me, I am American and spent most of my fundraising life in the US. After a couple of years in New York City working in the Mayor’s press office, I was inspired to throw myself headlong into the world of nonprofits. Since then I have seen (and raised money for) it all, from small community centers through to multinational development organizations.
In 2009, I took my passion and experience and packaged them up, launching my own consulting business. My Portuguese husband and I are living in Lisbon now, and I enjoy working with clients on both sides of “the pond.”
Being based in the EU has only broadened my view of fundraising. Though funding systems are different, the need for increased support seems to be everywhere these days. Hmmm… that seems like a good segueway for a declaration of mission, doesn’t it?
